Ajwain, pronounced as uj-wine, is an annual herb, the plant's leaves and fruit, often referred to as seeds and used in cooking. The seeds are pale khaki colored, oval shaped and they are highly fragrant, smelling a bit like thyme (because it contains thymol); its bitter taste, however, is similar to oregano and anise.
